NEWMAP-EIB Shines with Media Support Award Win

Gombe, Nigeria – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, has recognized the efforts of the NEWMAP-EIB Project, Gombe State with a prestigious Media Support Award. The award was presented during the NUJ’s 2025 Dinner and Award Night, held at the Custodian Hotel Hall, Gombe, on May 1, 2026.

The award is a testament to the project’s commitment to effective communication and media engagement. “We’re thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Dr. Shittu Whanda Ja’afaru, Project Coordinator, NEWMAP-EIB, Gombe State. “It reflects our team’s dedication to building strong relationships with the media and stakeholders, which is crucial to our success.”

In his address, Professor Muazu Usman Shehu, Head of the Civil Service, Gombe State, congratulated all the award recipients, including the NEWMAP-EIB Project, on their outstanding achievements. “Your work in promoting transparency, accountability, and development in Gombe State is commendable,” he said. “I urge you to continue using your platforms to drive positive change and inspire others.”

NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, in his address, also praised the awardees, including the NEWMAP-EIB Project, for their contributions to journalism and media excellence. “Your recognition is a testament to the power of a free and vibrant press,” he said. “Keep pushing the boundaries and holding those in power accountable.”

The event brought together journalists, media professionals, and stakeholders to celebrate excellence in journalism and recognize outstanding contributions to the media landscape in Gombe State. The NEWMAP-EIB Project is committed to continuing its support for a free and vibrant press in Nigeria.
