PHOTO NEWS: Gombe NEWMAP-EIB Hosts New NESREA Northeast Zonal Director to Deepen Environmental Partnership

European Investment Bank Assisted-Nigeria Climate-Adaptation Erosion adaptation and Watershed Project, (NEWMAP-EIB), received the newly appointed National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, (NESREA), Northeast Zonal Director, Mr. Gaya D. Daniel, on a familiarization visit to the project office in Gombe.

The visit, according to NESREA, is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the regulatory agency and NEWMAP-EIB to advance environmental protection, pollution control, and climate resilience across Gombe State and the wider Northeast region.

Welcoming Mr. Daniel, the Gombe State NEWMAP-EIB Project Coordinator, Dr. Shittu Whanda Ja’afaru, described the partnership as timely and critical for the sustainability of ongoing intervention works.

Dr. Ja’afaru noted that NEWMAP-EIB’s mandate to address erosion, flooding, and land degradation aligns directly with NESREA’s regulatory role. He assured the Zonal Director of the project’s full cooperation and commitment to compliance with environmental standards in all its activities.
