NEWMAP-EIB Project Engages Unguwa Uku Community
… as Governor Yahaya Approves Unguwa Uku as the first project site for NEWMAP-EIB in Gombe State

The NEWMAP-EIB Project, Gombe State Project Management Unit (SPMU), today conducted a community engagement at the Community Head Palace of Unguwa Uku, one of the communities in Gombe metropolis. The engagement, led by Project Coordinator Dr Shittu Whanda Ja’afaru, aimed to foster collaboration and educate the community on the project’s objectives and activities.
The community engagement provided a platform for the project team to interact with the community, listen to their concerns, and address their queries. The project’s objectives, including environmental management and sustainable development, were clearly explained to the community.
In a significant announcement, the Project Coordinator revealed that, by the approval of His Excellency, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe), the Unguwa Uku community has been selected as the first project site in Gombe State. This announcement was met with jubilation from the community members.
The Community Head of Unguwa Uku, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan, expressed his joy and appreciation to the governor for selecting Unguwa Uku for the project. He pledged the community’s full support for the project’s success, assuring that the community will work closely with the project team to ensure its implementation.
Alhaji Hassan assured the project team of the community’s full cooperation and support, emphasising the importance of community involvement in project implementation. He also urged the project team to ensure that community members benefit from the project’s initiatives.
The community engagement is part of the project’s efforts to build trust and foster collaboration with stakeholders. The NEWMAP-EIB Project is committed to working with communities to achieve its objectives and improve the lives of people in Gombe State.
The engagement was well-attended by community leaders, women, and youth groups, who all contributed to the discussion and showed enthusiasm for the project’s activities.
The NEWMAP-EIB Project team promised to continue engaging with the community and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
